Recognising Excellence: Launch of the PSC High Project

The University of South Australia’s Psychosocial Safety Climate Global Observatory ® is pleased to announce the PSC High Project.

The goal is to build high PSC in organisations globally by recognising those who are performing well.

We start today by announcing the inaugural 2024 PSC High Project organisations.

(Alphabetical order listing)

ARC Laureate Professor Maureen Dollard says “these organisations are selected based on their high PSC scores which indicate that the organisation has been proactive in its approach to protecting employee psychological health, and that employees are on average in a low-risk situation for future job strain and mental distress. Of course it should be noted that the high score is an average and there is always room for improvement”.

Psychosocial Safety Climate (PSC) refers to employee perceptions of the safety system, including relevant policies, procedures and practices for employee psychological health and safety. PSC provides a helicopter view of how well the organisation is handling psychosocial risks.

CEO Greg Vines says “Comcare’s high score shows their commitment to creating a psychosocially safe workplace – where mental health is prioritised, risks are managed proactively, and workers’ wellbeing is a key focus of organisational strategy. Psychosocial safety is crucial to the overall health of an organisation. When employees feel secure, valued and respected, it builds integrity and trust, which helps drive innovation and productivity”.

Focusing on improving the safety system for worker psychological health is in accordance with the new WHS regulations is good for worker mental health (and physical health) and ultimately for organisational functioning (less turnover, sickness absence, higher engagement). Standby as we add more organisations to the list!
